Elf Marc VDS Racing Team signs Tony Arbolino for 2022

The Italian, currently riding with Liqui Moly Intact GP, joins the Belgian outfit on a two-year deal

Italian Tony Arbolino has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in the MotoGP™ World Championship paddock since making his debut in the Moto3™ category back in 2017. The 21-year-old enjoyed a hugely successful four-year spell in Moto3™ in which he scored six pole positions, 12 podiums and three victories, and last season he finished only four points behind World Champion Albert Arenas in second overall.

Arbolino moved into the ultra-competitive Moto2™ World Championship for 2021 and the Milanese rider is now looking forward to embarking on an exciting new chapter in his career with the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team, who won the intermediate title in 2014, 2017 and 2019.

Arbolino is an exceptionally talented and motivated rider with an incredible work ethic and desire to succeed and the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team is looking forward to helping him unleash his full potential on the Triumph-powered Kalex package next season.

Marc Van Der Straten, Team Manager: "He has great potential and strength to stand up to any opponent. It is a great pleasure for me to welcome to our team a young and talented rider like Tony Arbolino. We are very motivated to accompany him in his growth in the Moto2 class and to be able to enjoy great success together. We know he has great potential and the strength to compete and stand up to any opponent. We are eager to embark on this new adventure together with a rider who shares our philosophy and way of doing things."

Tony Arbolino: "They wanted me and I wanted them. I'm really very happy to be part of this project. I think it's a great opportunity to improve and keep moving forward in my career. I chose this team precisely because I think it is one of the best in the category and the connection I felt was immediate. They wanted me and I wanted them, and this is something very important for me. I needed this change, and I am proud that Marc van der Straten and his team have trusted me to represent them. I will do my best to show my talent and I will work hard to get the best possible results. The goal will be to fight consistently with the fastest riders in the category and be battling for podiums and victories.”
