Marquez half a second clear in FP4

Slick tyres were used for the first time this weekend with Zarco and Pol Espargaro completing the top three

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) stormed to the top of the times in FP4 as a dry racing line appeared around the Circuit Ricardo Tormo at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana. The 2018 Champion set a 1:32.571 to beat second fastest Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) by 0.501, with Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) third.

Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) was fourth quickest and the only other rider to get within a second of Marquez, with Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) P5. Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) ended the session in P22 as the nine-time World Champion takes part in Q1.

Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) and Jack Miller (Alma Pramac Racing) crashed – riders ok, with Danilo Petrucci’s Alma Pramac Racing machine catching fire as he slowed for a practice start.
