Atiratphuvapat 1.9 clear in mixed FP3 conditions

Thai rider tops a session for the second time this weekend to head Arbolino and Bezzecchi

Nakarin Atiratphuvapat (Honda Team Asia) topped a Moto3™ practice session for the second time this weekend at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix, going 1.941 seconds faster than second-place Tony Arbolino (Marinelli Snipers Team), with title contender Marco Bezzecchi (Redox PruestelGP) P3 in mixed conditions.

Just like it did on Friday morning, overnight rain meant the Moto3™ class had to contend with a damp Sepang International Circuit. With no more rain falling though, the track was slowly drying with some riders deciding to head out on slick tyres towards the end of the session. One of those riders wasn’t Atiratphuvapat though as the Thai rider set his fastest laps on wet tyres, 1.941 the gap by the chequered flag, with Arbolino also staying on the wet tyres too as he ends FP3 in second – P1 on the combined times for the Italian.

Bezzecchi was third, 2.229 back, with Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0) fourth as he headed out on slick tyres in the latter stages – 2.328 slower for the Spaniard. Andrea Migno (Angel Nieto Team Moto3) also went out on slicks, he was fifth fastest.

Title contender Fabio Di Giannantonio (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) finished P8 in FP3, with teammate and Championship leader Jorge Martin down in P15 ahead of qualifying.

Apiwath Wongthananon (VR46 Master Camp Team) crashed – rider ok after being declared fit from an FP2 crash, with Makar Yurchenko (Marinelli Snipers Team) also being declared fit after heading to hospital yesterday following his FP1 off.

Lightweight class qualifying begins at 12:35 local time (GMT +8).
