Viñales tops red flagged FP4

Spaniard led Lorenzo and Marquez before four riders crashed at T7 as the rain started to fall heavily at Silverstone

Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) continues his very positive weekend at the GoPro British Grand Prix after topping FP4 with a 2:01.571, 0.411 ahead of Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) and 0.431 ahead of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) before the rain soaked the Silverstone layout with 10 minutes remaining.

Jack Miller (Alma Pramac Racing) was fourth quickest on his Ducati, with Friday’s fastest man Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) rounding out the top five before the session was red flagged.

Heavy rain was falling at the bottom end of the circuit when Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) crashed going into T7, aquaplaning on his Suzuki before having to bail out, with Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini), Tito Rabat (Reale Avinita Racing) and Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) all going down. Jorge Lorenzo (Ducat Team) also ran on, with Rabat receiving medical attention trackside before heading to the medical centre - rider concious.

The session was red flagged with just over a minute to go, with the decision to not restart FP4 taken by the stewards. Q1 is next, with the session delayed due to safety conditions.
