Schrötter sets early pace at Silverstone

German topped the Moto2™ FP1 session ahead of Pasini and Lowes

Marcel Schrötter (Dynavolt Intact GP) made a strong start to the GoPro British Grand Prix to end the opening session in the Moto2™ class at the summit, setting a quickest time of 2:08.385 on his 11th flying lap to beat Mattia Pasini (Italtrans Racing Team) by 0.258 seconds, with Sam Lowes (Swiss Innovative Investors) rounding out the top three on Friday morning at his home Grand Prix.

Lorenzo Baldassarri (Pons HP40) leaped up to fourth as the session ended, 0.475 behind Schrötter’s time, with Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) rounding out the top five at Silverstone, just ahead of Fabio Quartararo (+ Ego Speed Up Racing) and Championship leader Francesco Bagnaia (SKY Racing Team VR46) in P6 and P7.

Championship contender Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) crashed early on at Turn 3, rider ok, but the Portuguese rider will be looking to improve on his P20 in FP2 this afternoon. Simone Corsi (Tasca Racing Scuderia Moto2), Iker Lecuona (Swiss Innovative Investors), Issac Viñales (Forward Racing Team) and Quartararo all crashed in the session – riders ok.

The intermediate class will be back out on track at 15:05 local time (GMT +1) for FP2!
