First stop Donington: the British Talent Cup starts now

Every journey begins somewhere. For the BTC, their Road to MotoGP starts at Donington Park

From an idea to a reality, the British Talent Cup is now about to fire up for the first time as Round 1 sees the field taking on Donington Park in the UK for their season opener. Racing alongside the first round of the 2018 British Superbike Championship, the stage is set and all that remains is for the lights to go out.

Donington Park is a true great British venue. Straddling the counties of Derbyshire and Leicester, the parkland track is 4.023km long and has seven right- and five left-handers. The stage for some of the greatest moments in motorsport history, it's a fitting place for the 23 riders in the BTC to get their campaigns up to speed.

In testing we saw Rory Skinner take the upper hand as the former Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup competitor settled into life in the BTC, but the competition were close behind and Donington is a venue famed for creating some great races. It's also home turf for almost everyone on the grid, meaning there's some serious pride at stake - as well as the first 50 points in play for the first two wins.

The 23-strong grid are ready to race so make sure you tune in to catch the debut of the British Talent Cup, with Race 1 underway at 15:00 on Sunday and Race 2 on Easter Monday at 11:15.
