Oliveira: “It’s incredible we’re third in the Championship"

Red Bull KTM Ajo rider moves up after fighting for the win at the Sachsenring

Neck and neck around the final lap, it was a close finish to the German GP for eventual winner Franco Morbidelli (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) and Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo), with the Portuguese rider just unable to get past. Catching Morbidelli and then putting pressure on him throughout the race, the performance was another impressive one as the new KTM intermediate class chassis continues to make headlines.

Now third in the Championship after some crashes for key rivals and another faultless performance, Oliveira is ready to recharge over the summer – and try and push for more of the same in the second half of the season.

Miguel Oliveira, P2: "Franco was very strong under braking. I tried to overtake him on the downhill section a couple of times and also during the last lap, but it wasn’t to be. In any case, we are very strong and have already taken many Top 5 finishes this year. I had been wanting to return to the podium for the last two races, and here we have taken another small step forward towards the top positions. The whole weekend has been amazing; I am very happy for the whole team and for myself. Now we will use the holidays to rest and to analyse what we have done so far. It’s incredible that we’re third in the World Championship; it is something we weren’t expecting and we will try to continue with this positive dynamic to continue to take good results."
