Redding reflects on the Czech GP

Front tyre woes end Brit's podium charge

Scott Redding (Octo Pramac Yakhnich) had an incredible start to the HJC Helmets Grand Prix České republiky, heading straight to the front of the pack and dueling with the factory Ducati Team duo for the lead of the race. Redding is often a threat in the wet – with several of his wins coming in difficult conditions and his first MotoGP™ successes proving the pattern. From his first record-breaking GP win in the 125 race at Donington Park in 2008 to his first MotoGP™ podium at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in 2015 on the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda, Redding was also proving a good bet in the initial stages of the Czech GP and looked set for a podium finish. A tyre problem put paid to his initial hopes however, as the Pramac rider moved backwards through the field to eventually take P15 and a point. Redding was back on track on Monday for the one day official test, putting in 47 laps and going ninth by the end of the day.

Scott Redding (P15): “I was very happy with my race. I made a good start and was going well. I felt a great feeling and I was in control. The set up of the bike was perfect. I felt that the front tyre was starting not to be performing but it was a normal thing, and I would even settle for Top 6. I was also able to recover some tenths to the front group. But suddenly, the uncommon degradation of the front tyre cost me the race. It's a shame.”
